Schade to perform at ROHM's New Year Eve event

The world-renowned tenor German-Canadian Michael Schade will be the star soloist of ROHM's Gala New Year's Eve Celebration.

Schade will share the stage with two brilliant young award-winning artists Egyptian soprano Fatma Said First Prize and Grand Pix winner respectively at the 2012 Leyla Gencer Voice Competition in Italy and the International Giulio Perotti-- Gesangswettbewerbs in Germany and acclaimed Italian violinist Anna Tifu winner of the important George Enescu Competition in Bucharest in 2007.

The event will be held on December 31 at 7pm. Based in Canada Schade has appeared at the world's most prestigious concert halls and opera houses including New York's Metropolitan Opera the San Francisco Opera the Vienna State Opera the Salzburg Festival the National Opera of Paris and with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto's Roy Thompson Hall. Schade has achieved international success equally in the domains of concert recital and opera.

He is much a sought-after Mozart leading man who is also particularly brilliant with Schubert Brahms and Strauss. Schade's wider repertoire includes Wagner Verdi Rossini Donizetti and many others. This leading tenor's multifaceted voice is appreciated for its versatile colours especially in soft and mezza voce singing as well as for its powerful galvanising quality at full volume. His virtuosity includes seamlessly blending several vocal shades within the same phrase.

Just twenty-four years old and maturing with a crystal clear soprano voice rising star Fatma Said has been favourably compared with the young Maria Callas. Considered one of the leading violinist of her generation twenty-nine year old Anna Tifu made her debut at La Scala Milan at the age of twelve performing the Bruch Violin Concerto No 1.It is a mark of her stature as a musician that Tifu plays the 1716 Antonio Stradivari which once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte and is known as the 'Berthier Franz von Vescy'. This famed violin has been described as 'An instrument of divine beauty with a tone that is sweet yet powerful has at the same time a deep timbre and is enchanting to play.'

Described by critics as 'inspired and creative' celebrated American conductor David Levi will direct the Belgrade Philharmonic an orchestra that has achieved remarkable success over the last decade in becoming the most successful cultural institution in Serbia and one of the leading national orchestras in Europe. A joyful programme takes the audience on a journey into the heart of Western Music through a selection of works in varied musical genresfrom Strauss and Lehar to Gershwin and Rodgers.

This is truly a star-studded Gala and a fitting end to the year as well as to the first half of the Royal Opera House Muscat's 2015-16 World Class Quality Season. The superb combination of a renowned orchestra and conductor with a famous and well-seasoned tenor and two relatively new musicians in their twenties one of whom is from this region sets the ROHM on course for an exciting and magical evening of celebration.
