Qatar- QC distributes humanitarian aid to Yemeni refugees

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) distributed humanitarian aid to Yemeni refugees in the coastal region of Obock in Djibouti.

Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Thani Arab League’s Special Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs and QC’s Goodwill Ambassador took part in the distribution ceremony.

Some 585 Yemeni families benefited from the aid which included basic foodstuff and cleaning materials.

“I thank QC for its efforts in relieving the displaced Syrians and refugees and distributing aid to the Yemeni refugees” said Sheikha Hessa.

She also visited QC’s office in Djibouti to review with staff the conditions of the Yemeni refugees and what they would need in the future.

The aid was distributed in coordination with ONARS (Organisation National d’Assistance aux RéfugiésetSinistrés) government representatives in Obock and representatives of the Yemeni refugees in the city.

Faisal Rashid Al Fahida Executive Director of Operations QC said the charity had given priority to its relief projects for the people inside Yemen where many could have no access to potable water food or medicine.

He said QC would exert extra efforts in the future with all partners concerned with the Yemeni people (inhabitants and refugees) to meet their most pressing humanitarian needs.

On a related matter Sheikha Hessa commended QC’s efforts in relieving the affected people especially the displaced Syrians and refugees.

She also spoke about her previous participation in the inauguration of projects implemented by QC near the Syrian Turkish border.

She also praised QC’s responsiveness with her initiative to distribute relief aid to Yemeni refugees in Obock.

She was addressing a conference to which she had invited local and foreign Arabic and Islamic charity organisations in Djibouti.

The conference was part of Arab League’s plan to develop its humanitarian work and promote cooperation between the member countries and organisers.

Sheikha Hessa said her role was to pay field visits present studies to the concerned ministerial councils and contact national and international organisations to coordinate humanitarian work.
