Coalition launches 28 airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq five in Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON Dec 27 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists in Syria and Iraq the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Sunday.In Iraq the coalition military forces conducted 28 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using fighter attack bomber and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.Near Albu Hayat a strike destroyed two ISIL heavy machine guns and a homemade explosive cache.Near Mosul seven strikes struck six separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed 15 fighting positions two vehicles a heavy machine gun a bunker four ISIL assembly areas three command control nodes and cratered two roads and denied access to terrain.Near Ramadi four strikes destroyed two tactical vehicles a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) a VBIED factory a VBIED staging location a building two house borne improvised explosive devices (HBIED) a staging area a fighting position and denied ISIL access to terrain.Near Sinjar six strikes struck two separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed two fighting positions two ISIL-used bridges and two culverts.Near Tal Afar seven strikes struck four ISIL-used bridges a culvert and destroyed 12 bunkers.Near Fallujah two strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a heavy machine gun position an ISIL-used bridge a bunker and a bed down location. In Syria the coalition conducted five strikes using attack and remotely piloted aircraft.Near Manbij three strikes struck three separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed a vehicle a weapons cache and wounded ISIL fighters.Near Ar Raqqah two strikes destroyed three excavators two bulldozers and damaged an excavator.
