Putin forms counter terrorism operations' rooms

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW Dec 26 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday set up a regional operations' rooms to counter terrorism.Putin signed a resolution setting up the operations' rooms in the cities of Kaspiysk Murmansk Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Simferopol and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with the objective of countering terror threats in territorial waters economic zones and continental shelf according to Interfax news agency.Commanders of these rooms are mandated with taking decisions to use force in countering terror threats planning counter-terrorism operations in territorial waters and protecting ships with Russian flags over them.Commanders of border guards will be heading the operations' rooms it said.The creation of the rooms took place as Russia is carrying out airstrikes against so-called ISIL in Syria.
