Morocco- King Mohammed VI Pardons 325 Convicts on Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) King Mohammed VI granted pardon to 325 people convicted by different courts in Morocco the Ministry of Justice and Liberties said on Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi or birthday of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). 234 of the convicts who benefited from the Royal pardon are currently serving their jail terms the ministry pointed out in a statement.

In this respect 231 prisoners had their prison terms reduced while three others benefited from the commutation of life imprisonment sentence to a time-limited prison term.

Twenty-five prisoners had their prison terms or its remainder pardoned while three had their jail terms annulled with fines maintained.

Two prisoners were granted pardon over their imprisonment term and had their fine annulled while fines against 61 convicts were suspended.

Royal pardon is customary in the North African Kingdom to mark national and religious holidays.
