Qatar- Library registers over 1500 new members


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar National Library’s team provides free registration for the public at the 26th Doha International Book Fair.

DOHA: Qatar National Library (QNL) received over 1500 new member registrations at the recent 26th Doha International Book Fair at Qatar National Convention Centre.

Thousands of visitors visited the QNL booth where a team hosted interactive presentations and activities about the library’s wealth of learning resources including highlights of its digital resources engaging events for children and families and registration led by the team.

Among the visitors in attendance were the event’s Guest of Honour Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who opened the 10-day fair Father Emir

H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Minister of Culture Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari Algerian Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi and senior literary figures.

Gihan Baraka Head of Library Relations and Communications QNL gave a presentation highlighting the role of social media in promoting the library’s features such as Qatar Digital Library (QDL) the landmark initiative that grants access to online resources about the history of Qatar the Arab and Muslim world the Heritage Collection QNL’s unique function as a metropolitan research and national library and its online databases access to which is free for members through the library’s website. Engineer Saadi Al Said Director Administration and Planning QNL said: “We are delighted with the number of attendees who visited our booth and registered for our online services and resources. “Participation in the fair greatly helps QNL and encourages people from all walks of life in Qatar to use the library’s state-of-the-art learning resources and engage in community engagement activities.
