UAE- MoI foils drug smuggling attempt on board Iranian ship

ABU DHABI 22nd December 2015 (WAM) -- A joint operation team from federal anti-narcotics departments and Sharjah Police in cooperation with other concerned authorities have seized 11 and a half kilograms of hashish and 142725 illegal pills onboard an Iranian ship in Port Khalid Sharjah.

Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi Director-General of the Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate-General at the Ministry of Interior said the raid uncovered large quantities of narcotic substances hidden in caches on the boat and arrested 10 people some of which were Iranian citizens.

Al Suwaidi added that two of the men who were apprehended were hiding in a tank and were found unconscious due to the lack of oxygen and high temperatures.
