1,200 students graduate from LCCI English Language Programme

(MENAFNEditorial) The Association of the English Language teachers in Lebanon (ATEL) and the Librairie du Liban Publishers have held a ceremony in the Conference Palace in Dbayeh to mark the graduation of 1,200 learners from the LCCI English Programme.

The graduates, from a number of schools across Lebanon, had all completed an English Language qualification from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The qualifications make up part of the qualification offering from Pearson, the world's largest learning company, and are recognised by universities and employers around the world as evidence of English language proficiency.

Nassim Ershaed, Pearson's Regional Director for the Arabian Gulf and Levant, believes the qualification will help graduates secure meaningful future employment:

"Strong English language skills, evidenced by an internationally renowned qualification are in strong demand in Lebanon and across the Middle East. Employers are looking for candidates who can perform in globally orientated businesses, and English language proficiency is essential to meeting such a requirement. LCCI qualifications focus on providing learners with the broad skills needed for the workplace. Those students graduating from their LCCI qualification will therefore be well placed to enter the workplace and thrive in their future career".

The ceremony took place on November 21, 2015 at the Conference Palace in Dbayeh, Lebanon and was attended by the General Director of the Ministry of Education, Fadi Yarak who represented the Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab. Also in attendance was the Head of the Sisters of the Two Sacred Hearts, Sister Daniella Harrouk, the President of the Association of Teachers of English in Lebanon, Dr Rene Karam, and the Directors of the Librairie du Liban Publishers, Mr. Habib Sayegh and Mr Pierre Sayegh. These special guests were joined by a number of teachers, parents and students.

Journalist, Mr Yazbek Wehbe who was a guest speaker at the event, noted the importance of the Conference falling on Lebanon's Independence Day. He said:

"We, in Lebanon, believe that teaching and perfecting a second language skill is very important in the context of our aspiration to communicate with other people from around the world to facilitate the practical life".
