Qatar- Australian MPs visit CMC


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: Two women members of Australian House of Representative visited the Central Municipal Council (CMC) to discover Qatari women’s role as election candidates voters and members of the elected council.

The delegation was received by Sheikha bint Yousuf Al Jufairi Representative of Constituency 8 and Head of the legal committee and Fatima bint Ahmed Al Kuwari Representative of Constituency 9.

The delegation comprised Dr Sharman Nancy Stone Chair of Foreign Affairs and Aid Sub-Committee and Teresa Gambaro Chair of Joint Committee for Foreign Affairs and Trade Australian Ambassador Pablo Kang and Saied Mutwali Consultant and Trade Commissioner at the embassy. The meeting aimed to explore Qatari women’s role in the political life and their experiences in elections and as councillors.

The delegation was briefed on the CMC’s role and powers the role of sub-committees the election law and means of communication with ministries and authorities.

Sheikha Al Jufairi and Al Kuwari hailed the visit saying it will help share experiences and information about public affairs in both country.
