Hamdan bin Mohammed forms Dubai Supreme Census Committee

DUBAI 21st December 2015 (WAM) -- Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued the Executive Council Resolution No (53) of 2015 forming the Dubai Supreme Census Committee. The Resolution states that the Dubai Supreme Census Committee is a provisional body attached to the Executive Council.

The Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and General Security will chair the Committee and Secretary General of the Dubai Executive Council will serve as its Deputy Chairman. The Committee also includes the Chief of Dubai Police the Director General of Dubai Security Director General of Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs Managing Director and CEO of DEWA Director General and Chairman of RTA Director General of Dubai Municipality Director General of Emirates Identity Authority Secretary General of Federal Demographic Council Executive Director of Dubai Statistics Center and a representative of the Ministry of Interior.

The Committee aims to create an accurate estimation of Dubai's population based on clear methodologies monitor demographic social and economic changes in the emirate establish and manage a reliable database to support decision-making processes and provide a defined reference for a census in Dubai.

Pursuant to the Resolution the Dubai Supreme Census Committee may identify available sources for the census in Dubai study all scientific methodologies required for estimating Dubai's population and future growth and take all required measures to connect government databases to the database of the Dubai Statistics Center.

The Committee may also propose amendments to procedures and policies required to update census databases in Dubai and coordinate with local and federal entities to ensure accurate operations. The Committee may use any additional local or international expertise and consultants for carrying out its objectives.

The Resolution assigns the Dubai Statistics Center to provide technical support and the Secretariat General of Dubai Executive Council to provide administrative support to the Committee. The Dubai Supreme Census Committee will complete its work in three years starting from the effective date of this Resolution.

The Resolution is effective from 19th November 2015 and will be published in the Official Gazette.
