US drone strike kills 3 suspected militants E. Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD Dec 21 (KUNA) -- At least three suspected militants including a local commander were killed and several others injured in a US-led drone strike in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province said officials on Monday.A US Army official in Afghan capital Kabul Colonel Michael Lawhorn confirming the attack said "US forces conducted a strike in Bati Kot District Nangarhar Province December 19 against individuals threatening the force." According to local media the strike targeted a meeting by Taliban rebels destroying the hideout completely.The drone strike came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan capturing several districts in the country. Earlier last month a US drone strike killed a senior commander of a banned Pakistani outfit in Afghanistan bordering North Waziristan tribal belt of Pakistan. (end) sbk.tg
