Saudi- Yemeni foreign minister announces ceasefire extension


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) BERN Rabi'I 10 1437 December 21 2015 SPA -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdelmalek Al-Makhlaf announced here on Sunday that he handed the UN Secretary General a decision of Yemen's President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to extend the ceasefire for another renewable seven days subject to the other party's adherence to halting attacks and hostilities.

In a press conference held Sunday in the Swiss capital Bern the Yemeni Foreign Ministers stressed that the next round of talks scheduled to be held on January 14 remains conditional on the release of detainees noting that the five permanent members of the UN Security Council have committed to making every effort and putting pressure on the rebels to release the detainees before this date as well as lifting the siege on Taiz and stopping the recruitment of child soldiers.
