The enormously popular Lebanese singer-songwriter Maher Zain is performing at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) in a two-night complimentary concert.

The first show was held at 7pm on Sunday at Maidan the outdoor courtyard in front of ROHM's public entrance.

The open air venue was chosen to allow as many people as possible to witness the tremendously popular event. Both concerts are complimentary 'in celebration of humanity' an official communique from ROHM said.

Zain is considered as one of the biggest stars in modern Islamic music.

Born in Lebanon and having spent his growing up years in Sweden Zain now tours the world singing mainly in English Middle-Eastern and Asian languages as well as French.

The artiste with numerous platinum records to his credit is also a philanthropist dedicated to humanitarian causes especially fundraising for victims of hurricanes and natural disasters; and most recently assisting Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

Zain rose to fame with the release of his first religiously themed album Al Hamdullilah in 2009. This signature album of soulful music with a modern flair was especially popular in Malaysia where Zain held many concerts and received several music awards.

Zain's second hit album Forgive Me (Samhini) was released in Malaysia in 2012. As Zain's fame spread on the Internet the artiste became quite popular in Oman too.

His songs For the Rest of my Life How Beautiful is this World and Open Your Eyes speak of love suffering and hope. They connect with the audience with an understanding of 'the truth of the human condition and how to make the best of it'.

The second concert is scheduled to be held at 7pm on Monday. The ROHM has requested audiences to arrive early for the complimentary concert to ensure seating.
