UAE- US Ambassador and DG National Archives discuss cooperation

ABU DHABI 20th December 2015 (WAM) -- U.S. Ambassador to the UAE Barbara A. Leaf has discussed with Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Rayes Director-General of the National Archives ways to enhance cooperation with US archives regarding exchanging expertise.

During her visit to the National Archives Al Rayes briefed the US diplomat on the institution's mission and its role in collecting and organising historical and official documents as well as the state-of-the-art work mechanisms.

He briefed her on the history and establishment of the National Archives in the light of the attention given by the wise leadership and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the National Archives.

Al Rayes and Leaf toured various departments and sections of the Presidential Archive which contains more than 65000 photographs and more than 13000 video tapes. The entire collection covers the activities of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the local and international levels.
