3 airstrikes in Syria 17 in Iraq target ISIL- coalition


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON Dec. 19 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the group known as ISIL conducting three airstrikes in Syria and 17 in Iraq the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Saturday. In Syria near Ayn Isa two strikes destroyed four ISIL fighting positions and an ISIL vehicle the announcement said.Near Manbij one strike destroyed an ISIL mortar position it said.In Iraq near Fallujah two strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed two ISIL vehicles four ISIL fighting positions and an ISIL front-end loader the statement said. One strike is currently under investigation for a potential friendly fire incident it said.Near Kirkuk one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL excavator and wounded ISIL fighters it said.Near Makhmur one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL light machine gun and an ISIL heavy machine gun it said.Near Mosul six strikes struck three separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL heavy machine gun two ISIL fighting positions damaged an ISIL bunker and suppressed an ISIL heavy machine gun and an ISIL mortar position the statement said.Near Ramadi four strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL vehicle-borne improvised explosive device an ISIL building nine ISIL fighting positions an ISIL sniper position an ISIL staging area and denied ISIL access to terrain it said.Near Sinjar three strikes struck three separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed two ISIL heavy machine guns and two ISIL fighting positions it said.
