UNESCO celebrates World Arabic Language Day


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Paris Rabi'I 07 1437 December 18 2015 SPA -- The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" celebrated today at its headquarters in Paris the World Day of the Arabic language which was organized by the Committee of Arab culture of the organization.

During the ceremony Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz delivered a speech in which he stressed that the language is one of the most important elements of the identity of each nation pointing out that the language is the cultural and intellectual vessel which combines and unites the nation.

For her part the Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova delivered a speech in which she lauded the contribution of the Arabic language in the development of science stressing that the Arabic has enriched world's knowledge and sciences.

She pointed out that the Arab world had a central role in the rapprochement and exchanges among civilizations in the Middle Ages.
