Jordan- Foreign minister meets Japanese lawmaker


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Tokyo Dec. 17 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh on Thursday discussed with Japanese Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committee leader Shinako Tsuchiya ways to boost bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.

The two officials underlined the depth of ties between Jordan and Japan. In this regard Judeh thanked Japan for the continuous support it extends to Jordan in various domains.

The Japanese lawmaker on her part stressed her country's readiness to bolster ties with the Kingdom in various domains.

Meanwhile the foreign minister held a press conference with Japanese journalists and media representatives during which he spoke about the Kingdom's stances towards the various developments in the Middle East.

Judeh briefed the Japanese media persons on the efforts being exerted by Jordan to fight terrorism and extremism. He also reiterated the Kingdom's stance which calls to finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis. Meanwhile the minister spoke about the burdens being borne by Jordan as a result of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees.

Judeh also spoke about the Palestinian cause as the core of the conflict in the Middle East stressing the need to solve the cause on the basis of the Arab peace initiative which calls for the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state.
