DUBAI 17th December 2015 (WAM) -- Dubai Airports has issued an advisory for passengers to ease their travel through the airport as the seasonal rush is expected to hit a peak at Dubai International Airport this weekend. Between Thursday and Sunday DXB will welcome an estimated one million passengers making it one of the busiest periods in the airport's history.

Travel tips issued by Dubai Airports include arriving early at the airport allocating a minimum of three hours for check-in and passport control taking into consideration daily rush hours and available routes in calculating commuting time to the airport and allowing extra time for your journey.

It also recommends checking with the airline in advance for information on baggage allowances and to pack liquids aerosols and gels LAGs in check-in baggage. If carrying LAGs in hand baggage ensure they are in a clear re-sealable plastic bag with each item not being more than 100ml. The total content of all items should be no more than one litre.

The airport reminded passengers to put anything with metal components watches jewellery mobile phones coins belts etc. into hand luggage well before arriving at the X-ray machine to save time at the security screening.

It added that it is important to check which airport and terminal you are departing from before leaving home. To beat queues check-in online if possible or use the self-service check-in kiosks in the departures hall.

The advisory concluded by reminding all passengers that using an e-Gate card can help to avoid queuing at passport control both while arriving and on departure. An e-Gate Card can be obtained from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs for a fee. GDRFA have an e-Gate office in the departure areas of all terminals.
