UAE economy minister meets Singaporean Kenyan ministers

NAIROBI 16th December 2015 (WAM) --- Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri Minister of Economy and Amina Chawahir Mohamed Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade have met on the sidelines of the World Trade Organisation's Tenth Ministerial Conference in Nairobi to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations and creating strategic economic partnerships between the two countries.

The discussions focussed on backing sectors like innovation small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UAE and Kenya to set up joint projects.

The Kenyan minister of international trade expressed her country's desire to establish a framework for discussing topics of mutual concern for both countries with a focus on sectors like SMEs agriculture labour hospitality airports and flower trade.

She noted that Kenya is also interested in setting up a joint committee with the UAE to discuss all areas of cooperation on trade and investment and establish relevant regulatory frameworks.

The two ministers also discussed the agenda and discussions of the WTO conference which concludes on Friday.

During his meeting with Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang Minister Al Mansouri said economic and trade relations between the two countries are strong.

Expansion of these relations especially in areas like innovation and investment are welcome by the UAE Al Mansouri noted.

A large UAE delegation will visit Singapore in February to attend the Singapore Airshow 2016 discuss matters of common interest and attend a forum for businesspersons from both countries.
