(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha December 16 (QNA) - Qatar has attained great achievements in military and defense fields including securing state's air land and maritime borders as well as vital installations in Dukhan Ras Laffan Mesaieed and Zikrit.
The achievements also include efforts to prevent smuggling illegal entry to the State using the latest technologies devices and patrols in addition to protecting Qatar’s territorial waters as well as Qatar’s fisheries and oil and gas establishments.
They achievements go beyond security to cover preparation and planning and putting in place wired and wireless networks to get ready for emergencies to protect vital and economic installations in the State besides helping and supporting ministries in emergency cases as well as conducting daily patrols using helicopters and fighters in order to protect borders in addition to directing radars to track and monitor the air and land borders. The chemical defense unit detects radiation at the state level.
Among other military achievements the Qatari Armed Forces participate in UN international forces and is part of "duty force" in Eritrea and Djibouti. They participate in Dir' al-Jazeera (Peninsula Shield) in Saudi Arabia as well as in a decisive storm operation in Yemen and is also helping victims of disasters in other countries.
In the area of operations and training the Qatari Armed Forces carried out many local joint exercises with brotherly and friendly forces as well as participates in foreign exercises in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and in friendly countries. The armed forces also carried out several training courses in colleges and schools for all its members in different fields including advanced technical and vocational courses as well as English Arabic French and Persian languages courses.
These achievements include in the area of military affairs the participation of the Qatari Armed Forces in many conferences and local and foreign exhibitions that are of significant impact on the administrative performance development and raise the field efficiency of weapons and military equipment and closer relations with brotherly and friendly forces.
The Armed Forces also signed a number of agreements and various memoranda of understanding with some countries and international organizations and the committees formed by senior leadership in the armed forces are working to achieve the desired goals.
The Armed Forces constructed three strategic stores and warehouses in central exercise and fuel depots and completed the construction of building for the unity of the General Command of Transport in Al Sailiya as well as the barrack of the members of the special forces and the building of the central command supply and fuel depots.
With respect to civil achievements the Armed Forces cooperate with the various security apparatus in the country to provide security and protection of civil events held in Qatar and also participates along with ministries in various human social and sports activities and extends humanitarian assistance through trips to several countries in Asia and Africa using Air Force transport aircraft as well as conducts operations to save and rescue the injured using air ambulance.
The Armed Forces represented in the National Committee on Arms Embargo hold lectures on chemical and biological weapons and weapons of mass destruction agreements as well as other lectures on radioactive materials prevention and methods of detection. The courses target members of the armed forces and internal security forces as well as students of universities and secondary schools in cooperation with the Supreme Education Council in addition to supervising the training of the police musical band and the rehabilitation and training of the musical band of the Emiri Guard.
