Israel says not enough evidence against Dawabsheh suspects

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) There is not enough evidence to prosecute the Israeli settlers suspected of killing three Palestinians including an 18-month-old baby Israel's defense minister claimed Tuesday.

“We know who is responsible for this terrorist act but do not have enough proof yet to try them” local media quoted Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon as saying on Israeli Army Radio.

He conceded that the petrol bombing that killed 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh and his parents -- and left his 4-year-old brother Ahmad with serious injuries -- was a "Jewish terrorist attack."

The July attack in the village of Duma near the occupied West Bank city of Nablus sparked outrage among Palestinians and the long delay in justice has been considered a factor behind recent violence that has killed at least 122 Palestinians and 22 Israelis or foreigners since Oct. 1.

Despite the recent arrests of some of the suspected attackers whose identities have not been revealed the Dawabsheh family told Anadolu Agency in November that they do not have faith in the Israeli justice system.
