CARE Jordan spends 18mln in 2015


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Dec. 15 (Petra) -- CARE International organisation in Jordan has spent around $18 million in 2015 on its emergency relief and long-term development programmes Country Director of CARE Jordan Salam Kanaan said Tuesday.

Some 550000 people of local societies and refugees have benefited from the programmes Kanaan said.

CARE Jordan budget is expected to increase to $22 million next year Kanaan noted pointing out that international bodies are involved in financing the agency's programmes and they include the European Union Canada Australia Germany the European Commission and Britain.

Launched in Jordan in 1948 CARE is now working on four schemes of women empowerment and case management among others in the Azraq refugee camp in addition to its long-term developmental scheme in Amman Mafraq Irbid and the Zarqa governorates.

CARE is a leading humanitarian organisation fighting global poverty. It also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters and helps people rebuild their lives.
