Kuwait- Min. Sheikh Salman and Russian Culture Min. discuss bilateral ties

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) SAINT PETERSBURG Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Means to enhance Kuwaiti-Russian ties especially cultural ones were the focus of talks held on Tuesday between visiting Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky.During the talks with Medinsky Sheikh Salman also Chairman of National Council for Culture Arts and Litters (NCCAL) reiterated Kuwait's keenness on promoting ties with Moscow urging activation of the cultural agreement signed between both during His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's last visit to Sochi and his meetings with President Vladimir Putin.He reviewed the efforts Kuwait lavishes for the preservation of cultural heritage and the projects planned to promote museum and other cultural bodies.Sheikh Salman invited Medinsky to visit Kuwait for further discussions of the means to boost bilateral cultural cooperation. He also expressed congratulations on the success of the three-day IV International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg that kicked off Monday.Kuwait has hosted several Russian cultural functions and preparations are underway for a Russian cinema week in the country he said.Meanwhile during his meeting with Director of the Hermitage Museum Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky Sheikh Salman stressed the significance of exchanging expertise in the field of developing museums calling for more visits by experts.He also pointed to the projects Kuwait is planning to carry out for promoting theater and the entire cultural scene.For his part Piotrovsky lauded the bilateral cultural ties calling for further cooperation through exchange of expertise and artistic visits.He urged the preparation of a bilateral agreement for consolidating cultural ties.
