Pakistan successfully test fires Shaheen 1 A ballistic missile


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Pakistan on Tuesday conducted a successful flight test of Shaheen 1-A ballistic missile capable of delivering different types of warheads up to a range of 900 kilometers said the military.According to media wing of Pakistan military Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) the flight test was aimed at re-validating several design and technical parameters of the weapon system. Senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) strategic forces scientists and engineers of strategic organizations witnessed the launch with its impact point in the Arabian Sea.Director General SPD Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil congratulated the scientists and engineers on their dedication professionalism and commitment towards yet another display of strengthening Pakistan's defense. Shaheen-1A with its sophisticated and advanced guidance system makes it a highly accurate missile system.He reiterated that Pakistan's strategic capabilities are based on Credible Minimum Deterrence and desire for peaceful co-existence in the region.President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warmly appreciated the scientists and engineers on achieving another outstanding milestone.Earlier on Friday Pakistan conducted a successful flight test of Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a maximum range of 2750 kilometers.
