Turkish PM: Iraqi capabilities insufficient to secure borders


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Monday that the Iraqi capabilities are insufficient to secure its borders referring to dangerous situation on Turkey's southern border.In an interview with a Turkish channel Davutoglu added that Turkey's intelligence found that it is a necessary to take some measures to protect soldiers tasked with training missions near the Iraqi city of Mosul from terrorist attacks noting that forces were dispatched to defend these soldiers.He referred to measures taken by his country concerning the redeployment of forces to deal with any military and security threats.Meanwhile Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Murad Tameer said on Sunday that there have been forces in northern Iraq for 18 months noting that the Turkish army increased its forces there to deal with any attacks launched by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).As a result Iraq submitted on Saturday an official complaint to the UN Security Council against Turkey under the pretext that Ankara violated the UN charter when it sent forces in northern Iraq on December 4.
