Jordan- FM participates in Syria meeting in Paris


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Paris Dec. 14 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh on Monday participated in Paris in a ministerial meeting to coordinate on Syria presided over French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

The meeting which was held with the participation of countries concerned with the Syrian issue discussed efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis in preparation for a meeting intended to be held in New York on Syria on Friday.

During the meeting Judeh reiterated Jordan's firm stance under the leadership of King Abdullah II since the beginning of the Syrian crisis which calls for reaching a political solution that ensures the safety security and territorial integrity of Syria with the participation of all components of the Syrian people based on the decisions of the Geneva1 Conference.

He noted that a comprehensive political solution is the only solution to this crisis by which the world agrees upon. A solution her added based on the decisions of the "Geneva1 Conference" which leads to restoring Syria's stability and security allows the voluntary return of refugees and displaced Syrians to their homes and preserves Syria's unity territorial integrity and political independence.

He pointed out to the Syrian opposition recent meeting in Riyadh which stressed the need for a political settlement of the Syrian issue based on the Geneva1 statement and the relevant international resolutions as well as forming a Supreme Commission for negotiations.
