Kuwait, Tunisia joint commission convenes 3rd session

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) (With POL-KUWAIT-TUNISIA-AGREEMENTS) KUWAIT Dec 13 (KUNA) - Kuwait-Tunisia Joint Higher Commission convened its third session under the co-chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Tunisian Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche The two sides discussed a range of bilateral issues relating to cooperation in various fields.At the onset of the meeting Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled welcomed the Tunisian senior guests and lauded the special ties between the two countries according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."The bilateral ties grew steadily in all sectors under kind patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and President Beji Caid Essebsi" he pointed out."Since the establishment of the diplomatic ties 53 years ago the two countries maintained a true desire to advance the mutually-beneficial cooperation."Kuwait has contributed to the launching of 33 development projects in Tunisia in various sectors" Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said noting that Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) oversaw the implementation of these projects.He appreciated the role of the 3500-strong Tunisian community in the development of Kuwait which materializes the cordial people-to-people relationship and the state-to-state partnership. He congratulated Tunisia on the successful democratic transition thanks to role of the members of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet who won the Nobel peace prize. The session gathered representative of 26 public and private corporations and civil society institutions.It culminated in the signing of eight agreements and memoranda of understanding in such areas as technical and scientific cooperation youth and sports higher education scientific research visa waivers and industrial exports.
