UAE- TRA hosts Smart Learning Forum

DUBAI 13th December 2015 (WAM) - The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunication Sector (TRA) has recently announced hosting the Smart Learning Forum that will take place in Conrad Dubai from 14 to 16 December and in the presence of UAE Minister of Education and Minister Telecommunications & Information. Technology Palestine Director General H.H. Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program (MBRSLP). The forum is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO).

The forum aims at exchanging knowledge and expertise among smart learning stakeholders particularly in topics related to implementing ICT startegies in promoting education as a tributary of the foundation of human development. The forum will shed the light on the existing experiences and especially on UAE experience as it is a pioneer in keeping pace with shifting to smart cities and government.

In this context Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori UAE TRA Director General stated: "We eye ITU's efforts to promote smart learning with interest and optimism. ITU is one of UN's prominent organizations and it is striving to reinforce ICT technologies and exploit them in serving humanity. We also eye ALESCO's efforts with appreciation as the organization is very keen on implementing modern technologies and mediums in fostering smart learning."

"We seek through this significant event to develop a framework for the cooperation between stakeholders in the field of smart learning with the aim of enhancing education quality in the Arab region. We also aim at creating a common understanding and a unified vision for smart learning in the region through facilitating the dialogue between officials from Ministries of Education Ministries of Information and Communications Technology and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities in the Arab countries. We will also shed the light on the local and international smart learning best practices and especially "Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning initiative. Moreover we aim at issuing guidelines for the formulation of national smart learning strategies and conducting analytical studies on the advantages and costs of using computers in schools." he added.

Hosting this forum comes as part of the series of initiatives and projects that are launched by TRA with the aim of creating an innovative and creative culture and utilizing smart technologies in refining and vitalizing the educational process in UAE and the Arab region. TRA has launched the Innovation Summer Camp this year and it covered all ICT related topics. The topics were adjusted to attract and interest kids from 6 to 17 years. It focused on developing their innovative and creative skills. That isn't all as TRA also hosted the Digital Arabic Content Summit which highlighted the vitality of enhancing the digital Arabic content's quality.
