Kuwait- First GCC relief project launched for Syrian refugges in Lebanon


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT Dec 13 (KUNA) -- The first GCC joint relief project aiming to help Syrian refugees in Lebanon was launched in Beirut on Sunday under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).Kuwait Red Crescent Society's envoy to Lebanon Dr. Musaed Al-Enezy said to KUNA that the project is to provide winter aid in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the Lebanese Red Cross Society.He added that the project was launched today by distributing medicines among 13 health centers serving Syrian refugees in Al-Beqaa Governorate.He noted that next week they will distribute covers and blankets in addition to rehabilitate the camps to face cold winter weather along with a project to produce 50000 liters of drinking water to serve 4000 Syrian families.Meanwhile medical coordinator of the Qatar Red Crescent Society Dr. Fadi Al-Halabi noted that the Red Crescent Societies in GCC countries are contributing to many important relief projects.Al-Halabi praised the role of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in supporting and helping Syrian refugees since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.
