(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Moroccan people performed on Friday Morning at 9:30 a.m. Salat-ul-Istisqa (Prayer for Rain) to implore God to shower on them His bounty of rain.
In line with the teachings of the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) the king called on Muslims all over the country to perform the Salat-ul-Istisqa on Friday morning in different mosques and prayer areas of the Kingdom. In an atmosphere of piety and devotion thousands of worshipers led by the imam at Al-Masjid Al-Aadam in Sale in the presence of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan begged the Almighty to spread bounteous rain on the kingdom and have mercy on His creatures. The Crown Prince who chaired the official procession was accompanied by Abdelilah Benkirane the Head of Government Ahmed Toufiq the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Drais Cherki the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Interior. According to the teachings of Islam Muslims are advised to invoke this occasional prayer whenever affected by drought and seek the mercy and grace of God to send abundant rain. Last year Moroccan performed the same supererogatory prayer in November in response to the request of the king after the agriculture sector which depends largely on seasonal rain fall was seriously affected. The Jewish community of the Kingdom also responded to king's call for Salat-ul-Istisqa and performed the prayer in all synagogues of the country.
