Qatar- QC pays Gaza university fee

DOHA: Qatar Charity’s office in the Gaza Strip has implemented the first phase of a QR3.65m project to pay university fees of some 800 needy students of the Islamic University of Gaza.

Engineer Mohammed Abu Halloub Qatar Charity’s Office Director in the Gaza Strip said that the goal of the six- month project is to help students who live under difficult

circumstances.

“We need to help parents through paying their students’ university fees. We should also support the university by helping students continue their education” he said.

Abu Halloub highlighted the disastrous economic circumstances the last aggression on the Gaza Strip caused. The students are no longer able to pay their fees. After realising that 40 per cent of the university students could not pay for studying QC sought providing them with their needs and helping

them continue their education.

Dr Ahmed Mheisin President Deputy of Public Affairs at the Islamic University of Gaza commended Qatar and its people’s role in helping the Palestinian people in education and other fields.

He praised the development projects Qatar Charity implements which reinforce the scientific potential of the Palestinians.

QC has also implemented a project to help around 2500 graduates who could not pay their fees to receive certificates.

QC is currently building study halls at Al Aqsa University in Gaza from which thousands of students are expected to benefit.

In addition QC supports Taqat project for Scientific Research at a cost of more than QR7m. It has also implemented a project to provide the schools with solar energy at a cost of more than QR5m.

QC earlier signed three memorandums of understanding with the Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip regarding joint cooperation to implement educational projects.

The projects will mainly serve primary and higher education sectors in Palestine at a cost of more than

QR15.5m.
