Qatar- Rolls Royce Dawn set for Jan debut

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Rolls Royce held a private event recently to reveal their latest drophead model, the Dawn. The car will be revealed to the public at the Qatar Motor Show 2016, slated from January 27 to February 1. It was introduced to the region at the Dubai Motor Show.

Appropriately the latest arrival was ringed by its present stablemates the Phantom, Ghost, the Wraith and a vintage model for the launch ceremony.

The launch was organised at the Old Civil Defence headquarters which is now the 'Fire Station Artist in Residence' by Rolls Royce Motor Cars Doha, sole authorised dealers for Rolls Royce in Qatar.

The new Rolls is a departure in its nomenclature and design - that moves away from the regular drophead models. Rolls Royce putting stress on the fact that most of the body panels are entirely news to accommodate the "new design" or a "new Dawn" as the firm is putting it.

The new design incorporates customer demands for a drophead that is a "true four-seater" and has a boot that can "actually be used".

Customers sought a rear arrangement that made sure all four passengers were involved not only in the driving experience but also the drophead's open top feel.

According to design chief, Giles Taylor, "the idea of creating a car like Dawn that can be used in comfort by only two adults on a day to day basis is anathema. In creating Dawn we have accepted no compromise to the comfort and luxury of four adults who want to travel together".

The roof of the Dawn delivers the "silence of a Wraith when up and deploys in almost complete silence in just over 20 seconds at a cruising speed of up to 50kph".

This is the second largest fabric roof applied to a current production car, after the Phantom Drophead Coupe.

According to Rolls-Royce engineers set themselves a goal "to make the quietest convertible car in the world".

Ihab Allam, general manager, Alfardan Automobiles, said: "Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a brand that is synonymous with luxury and the Rolls-Royce Dawn provides the most social, uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world. The beautiful new motor car has been very well received by our discerning clientele so far € we are confident that it will continue to drive the success of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha forward into 2016 and beyond."

Deliveries on the new Rolls-Royce Dawn commence in the second quarter of 2016.
