Qatari Tunisian Supreme Joint Committee Meets


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha December 09 (QNA) - The Qatari-Tunisian supreme joint committee met for the sixth session under the presidency of HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid.
At the outset of the meeting HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister welcomed the Tunisian prime minister and his accompanying delegation pointing to relations between the two fraternal countries that constitute a strong basis in the path of fraternal ties between the two countries and peoples.
HE the premier said the meeting comes under the strongly present political will and gives the distinguished fraternal ties more opportunities to benefit from the energies and capacities of both countries so as to push cooperation to the best levels in a way that serves the interests of the two fraternal peoples and achieves their ambitions in the framework of the existing understanding and unity of viewpoints towards their mutual issues as well as the Arab Islamic and regional issues.
"The circumstances that the region is undergoing and the changes and challenges the world is witnessing call for maintaining the highest levels of coordination and consultation in activation of the mutual role of the two countries on the regional and international fronts" HE the prime minister and interior minister said.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser expressed his delight at the current progress and comprehensive development in Tunisia reiterating the supportive stance for the democratic transition in Tunisia the existing development projects and programs and enhancing the economic partnership between the two countries.
In turn the Tunisian prime minister expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to Qatar's government and people for the hospitality that he and the accompanying delegation received to make the sixth session succeed.
He noted that the sixth session bears great significance as it comes five years after holding the previous session which shows the sincere political will of the two leaderships and governments to rectify what has happened and work to further consolidate fraternity and cooperation relations between the two countries and peoples in all fields.
Essid said the meeting represents an opportunity to assess aspects of bilateral cooperation and the outcome of what has been achieved in the different fields especially the economic trade and financial sectors as well as the areas of investment and partnership along with scientific and cultural fields. He expressed confidence that the work of the committee will culminate with results that reflect the level of the common aspirations and contribute to the promotion of cooperation ties between the two fraternal countries.

Later HE the premier and the Tunisian prime minister signed the minutes of the sixth session of the supreme joint committee.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser and Essid witnessed the signing of a number of agreements programs and memoranda of understanding.
The second executive program for the cultural and artistic agreement between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia was signed for the 2016-2018 period as well as the fourth executive program for the media cooperation agreement between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia for the 2016-2018 period.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in human resources and administrative training was signed between Qatar's Ministry of Administrative Development and the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation along with an MoU between Qatar Central Bank and the Central Bank of Tunisia and another one on cooperation in the field of information technology and communications between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia.
In addition an MoU was signed for cooperation in the security fields between Qatar's Emiri Guard and Tunisia's presidential guard and another MoU on agricultural cooperation between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia.
An MoU on joint cooperation in the field of diplomatic training and studies was signed between the Qatari Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Institute and the Tunisian Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Institute for Training and Studies.
Meanwhile a grant agreement was signed between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia on contribution to the funding of the achievement of LTE network at the Interior Ministry. A cooperation agreement in the security field was signed between the governments of Qatar and Tunisia and a cooperation agreement on traditional industries was also signed between the two governments.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani held a luncheon banquet in honor of the Tunisian prime minister and the accompanying delegation. (END)
