Kuwait keen on promoting coop. dialogue in Asia- MP


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait plays a vital role in promoting cooperation and encouraging dialogue among the Asian countries Head of the Kuwaiti parliament committee MP Faisal Al-Shaye said.Al-Shaye made the remark during the 8th Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) that kicked off Wednesday in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.The three-day conference aims to "promote peace reconciliation and dialogue in Asia" by bringing together parliamentary presidents and representatives of 22 countries to discuss and exchange views on current issues of politics economics finance and social affairs.Al-Shaye said that the 1st Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit was held in Kuwait in 2012 as directed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to draw a financial blueprint to face economic challenges in Asian countries.The Kuwait Summit also ended with the establishment of a program that funds developmental projects in non-Arab Asian countries; Kuwait contribution to that program was USD 300 million he pointed out.His Highness the Amir since his ascending the throne in 2006 has been keen on enhancing ties with the Asian countries; he made a number of visits where he held official talks and signed bilateral agreements on economy with some Asian countries Al-Shaye noted.He added that the Asian continent has become a world center for economic revival due to its developmental projects that have become a "true inspiration" to many nations; nonetheless Asia is still facing religious ethnic and border security challenges that hinder its progress.Hence Al-Shaye stressed the importance of achieving peace and security in the region through solidarity reconciliation and open dialogue reiterating the primary interest for Arabs and Muslims worldwide: finding a solution for the Palestinian crisis.In achieving stability in the region Cambodian Prime minister Hun Sen also emphasized the importance of collaborating international efforts to combat ISIL and establish sustainable development through peaceful co-existence.The Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation to Cambodia includes: Secretary MP Dr. Ouda Al-Rowaie treasurer MP Saleh Ashur MP Dr. Khalil Abdullah MP Saif Al-Azmi and MP madhi Al-Hajri.
