Qatar- PHCC centre hosts American Heart Association


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The International Training Centre (ITC) at Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) hosted the American Heart Association (AHA) recently at the Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel.

Layla al-Jasmi, assistant executive director of Workforce Development and Training Directorate, outlined the objectives of the event. "Fourteen of our own AHA certified instructors, from the PHCC International Training Centre, will be joining 38 AHA certified instructors from across Qatar to learn more of the developments and new guidelines launched by AHA, for developments in cardio pulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care," she stated.

The international event was in collaboration with AHA to support the growing need of quality and internationally recognised basic life support, advanced cardiac life support and paediatric advanced life support training across Qatar.

This was the first such event for Qatar and one of the 15 events being held across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region. Zehra al-Hilali, territory director of Mena region, AHA also attended the event. Al-Hilali has worked with PHCC to ensure the success of the event as a host and sponsor.

Paul Comeau from College of North Atlantic (Qatar), and Dr Taghreed al-Najjar, regional faculty from regional training Centre, Jordan, co-ordinated the sessions.

PHCC - ITC is now at the stage of training instructors to provide advanced resuscitation courses.
