Qatar, Indonesia cooperate in gas exploration

(MENAFN) Indonesia is seeking partnership with Qatari top firms such as Qatar Petroleum or RasGas for gas exploration on its land, based on recent reports.

Indonesia already sees and realizes the great potential in joining forces with the gulf country, plus the fact that its gas reserves are located in hard-to-reach areas.

Accordingly, Indonesia needs significant investments and technology to recover the gas, therefore the USD1 billion Joint Investment Fund has been signed.

Indonesia imports USD1.5 billion worth of gas and oil annually, and the energy demand in the next four years will be 6.1mn bpd of fuel, including coal.
