Fourth suspect in Agouza nightclub attack arrested

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Ministry of Interior arrested the fourth suspect of the attack, Mahmoud Said Ahmed Salim, on the "Al-Sayyad" nightclub in Agouza that occurred on Friday, it announced Tuesday.

Giza security services arrested Salim on Tuesday, 20, a student who lives the Imbaba neighbourhood of Giza, a ministry media official said.

The first three suspects were arrested on Saturday and will be interrogated by the prosecution, facing possible murder charges.

The ministry said both of them confessed to using Molotov cocktails and gunfire in the attack on the nightclub. Many people in the nightclub at the time of the attack suffocated from the smoke caused by the fire. The incident initially caused 16 deaths and 10 injuries. The death toll increased to 17 people when security forces found the body of another victim at the nightclub.

According to the security forces, Giza investigations received a report from nightclub employee Mosaad Sayed's father, stating that his son had been missing since Friday's attack. Investigations revealed that Sayed was at the nightclub during the attack and his body was found on Monday.

The nightclub in Agouza was attacked by Molotov cocktails early Friday morning, allegedly following a dispute that resulted from the perpetrators not being allowed into the club. The Agouza prosecution unit ordered the detention of three suspects for four days, pending investigations on Sunday on charges of attacking the nightclub.
