Qatar- Tunisian Days kicks off in Cultural Village


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: Tunisian Days organised by the Cultural Village Foundation Katara and the Tunisian Embassy kicked off on Monday at Katara.

Speaking at the launch event Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti noted that Katara seeks to launch diverse cultural events in bid to shed light on different cultures such as organizing events on Ethiopia Palestine Uzbekistan Morocco Turkey Ecuador Korea and China.

He expressed hope that through these cultural events Katara will foster ties amongst Arab countries in general. On the Tunisian Days he said “We hope that through this event we convey a vivid and integral image about the Tunisian cultural scene.”

Tunisian Ambassador Salah Al Salhi noted that organizing the event is a part of the mutual efforts to consolidate the ties of cooperation between Qatari and Tunisian people.

The Ambassador revealed the fact that the visit of the Tunisian Prime Minister to Doha and holding the sixth session of the Joint Qatari-Tunisian higher committee on December 9 and 10 besides holding the partnership day between the two countries are an illustration of the strong relation between the two countries.

The event which will continue until Saturday witnessed the participation of 50 Tunisian artists and introduces visitors of to the richness of the Tunisian heritage and tradition through folkloric performances and traditional fashion shows as well as a selection of fine arts. Tunisian artist Iman Mabrouk displayed 10 fine art paintings to highlight Tunisian landscape and tradition while the painter Nawal Ashour participated with 10 abstract impressionist paintings.
