Qatar- Commercial outlets get six more months to comply with law

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce yesterday issued Decision No 397 for 2015 on granting an extension for compliance with Law No 5 of 2015.
The law lays down rules and regulations for commercial/industrial outlets and similar public facilities, as well as street vendors, and stipulates a wide range of penalties for violations.
Last week, the Cabinet approved a proposal by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to grant the extension to individuals and organisations running commercial/industrial outlets and similar public facilities as well as street peddlers.
These individuals and organisations now have six more months to comply with the law, which was issued by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in April.
The six-month extension came into effect on December 3.

Move to ease export of Qatari products

An employee from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) will be posted at the services hall of the Qatar Chamber (QC) headquarters for the attestation of the detailed certificates of origin issued by the trade body.
The move is meant to ease the procedures for QC members to export Qatari products according to the privileges given by the agreements approved by the country. It also came as a response to the requests of exporters to ease the related procedures.
These certificates will be issued by QC and simultaneously approved by the MEC employee posted at the QC headquarters, saving the time and efforts needed to process the documents necessary for exporting Qatari goods. Further, the move is expected to boost the related trade transactions.
