Timely initiatives helped Qatar overcome economic crises: PM


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar managed to overcome the international economic crises and their repercussions easily over the past years by launching a number of initiatives to support the economic and banking sector, in addition to enhancing the role of the Audit Bureau and ensuring its independence in its capacity as the highest monetary control body in the State, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani said yesterday.

Inaugurating the 5th joint conference between European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions and Arab Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI-ARABOSAI) in Doha the Prime Minister expressed Qatar's commitment to continue the development process and contribute to the transformation of the country to a modern state capable of positively interacting with the requirements of the era.

HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani said the EUROSAI-ARABOSAI conference aims to enhance the Euro-Arab dialogue to realise the effective partnership among Arab and European countries which has become a pressing requirement, especially amid the circumstances prevailing in the world of today.

He called for the adoption of measures and policies that constitute a future protection of the international financial, trade and economic order and to provide accurate control on the global economic indicators and their changes in order to avert the occurrence of future crises.

The opening session was attended by heads of higher observatory bodies, heads of organisations and guests.
