UAE still top GCC market for construction workers

ABU DHABI 8th December 2015 (WAM) -- The UAE is the most popular GCC market for construction professionals as more than half of GCC respondents have reported working primarily in the UAE according to the results of Construction Week's 2015 Salary Survey.

The survey highlighted that Saudi Arabia overtook Qatar as the second most popular Gulf country amongst construction professionals with 17.68% of respondents working primarily in the Kingdom.

"The proportion of respondents working primarily in Qatar dropped by 6.5% from 21.15% in 2014 to 14.65% this year. Oman has witnessed a slight increase in popularity over the past 12 months with 7.58% of respondents working primarily in the Sultanate" according to the report.

The survey which was completed by 220 construction professionals added that the proportion of construction living in Kuwait remained stable at 2.52% noting that Bahrain saw a fourfold increase this year growing to 2.02% from the 0.44% figure achieved in 2014.
