Turkey- Suicide bombers kill 21 in Chad

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) At least 21 people were killed and more than 130 wounded by three suicide bombers on the island of Koulfoua in Chad a local official said Sunday.

The three bombers who were reportedly all women targeted a busy market Saturday. Initial reports from security sources put the death toll at 30 including the bombers.

A government statement released Saturday did not identify the attackers but Boko Haram militants are particularly active around Lake Chad where the borders of Nigeria Cameroon Chad and Niger meet.

Local security sources blamed the attack on Boko Haram which has been fighting a six-year insurgency that has spread from northeast Nigeria.

Last month the government declared a state of emergency in region following repeated Boko Haram attacks.
