Kuwait- Florence honors Ambassador Sheikh Ali Khaled for his cultural role

FLORENCE Dec 7 (KUNA) -- The Italian city Florence has decorated the Kuwaiti Ambassador Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah with the city high-grade honorary award for his noticeable role in portraying Kuwait culture abroad and cementing its ties with Italy at this level.
The award was delivered by the city mayor Dario Mardella and the head of the Florence-Europe Cultural center Senator Marco Cellai at the award 33rd ceremony held at the sovereignty palace with attendance of a large number of official and military personalities and dignitaries.
Ambassador Sheikh Ali Khaled has played a key role in promoting the Kuwait culture in Italy with various initiatives such as holding of the "art in Islamic civilian" exhibition that had been hosted by the Scuderie del Quirinale museum an affiliate building of the Republican Palace.
Cellai stated on the occasion that the award was granted to the eminent diplomat as part of ongoing effort aimed at solidifying the broad and friendly relations between Kuwait and Italy namely with Florence a beacon of European culture and civilization.
The award was granted by the board of trustees of the Florence Center for Literature and Visual Arts which lauded the special ties bonding Kuwait and Florence which hosts headquarters of the Kuwait-Italy friendship society. The city has also been bonded with a twinning accord with Kuwait city since the 90s.
In response Ambassador Sheikh Ali expressed gratitude for his honoring and manifested deep sentiments toward the ancient city where geniuses in culture arts and philosophy have lived.
These relations have been particularly boosted with the visit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabr Al-Sabah to Italy in 2010 followed with visits by the His Highness the Premier and the Parliament Speaker.
These ties have resulted in tangible outcomes such as Kuwait's participation in Expo Milan 2015 where the Kuwaiti pavilion earned awards for best architecture and decoration. (end) mn.rk
