Qatar- Prime Minister to open IPTC today

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani will formally inaugurate the 9th International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) today at the Qatar National Convention Center with Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Shell co-hosting the event.

The IPTC is the largest multi-society and multi-disciplinary oil and gas event in the Eastern Hemisphere. This year QP and Shell will showcase cutting-edge innovation under the theme ‘Technology and Partnerships for a Sustainable Energy future.’

Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum Saad Sherida Al Kaabi and Upstream International Director at Shell Andy Brown will also address the gathering.

During the three-day event industry professionals and government representatives from all around the world will meet to discuss and share their views expertise and best practices. In addition senior management from QP Shell and the industry will deliver keynote remarks and participate in key panel sessions.

This year’s IPTC will feature two CEO plenary sessions five strategic panel sessions 62 technical sessions with over 300 presentations six ‘Ask The Expert’ sessions and four training courses. The exhibition held alongside the event on the other hand will involve the participation of over 80 companies showcasing their latest technologies major projects and valuable industry services.

The event will enable conference delegates and visitors to network with over 5000 industry professionals from all over the world.

In addition to being the co-hosts QP and Shell are the Titanium Sponsors of the IPTC’s Young Members Activities which is set up to educate and inform younger audience members of the topics challenging industry professionals. These include workshops competitions tours and presentations all aimed at raising the awareness of students and young adults who might consider pursuing technical careers in the future.

Founded in 2005 the IPTC rotates between Asia Pacific and the Middle East with Doha designated as its permanent home in the region. The event is a collaborative effort of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
