Analysts project slow progress in smartphone market

(MENAFN) The year 2015 will mark the first year of single-digit worldwide smartphone progress, according to an all new calculation from the International Data Corporation (IDC).

IDC projects global smartphone shipments will increase 9.8 percent in 2015 to a total of 1.43 billion units, moreover, slower growth is expected to intensify slightly over the 2015-19 forecast period.

Accordingly, the underwhelming prediction is mainly attributed to lower shipment forecasts for windows phone as well as alternative platforms, which are hurting all major ecosystems.

However, The Middle East & Africa (MEA) region will see the best growth in 2015 with shipments anticipated to raise 50 percent y-o-y, surpassing hot growth markets such as India and Indonesia.
