Kuwait's humanitarian aid role in spotlight at int'l Geneva Conf.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GENEVA Dec 6 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is taking part in the 32nd International Conference for the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Geneva December 8-10 to shed light on Kuwait's bright image in international humanitarian and relief work a KRCS official has said.Speaking to KUNA on Sunday the KRCS Director of Media and Public Relations Khalid Al-Zaid stressed the importance of the event that brings together the world's humanitarian organizations in one place to highlight their role.Al-Zaid noted that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) red crescent societies made their decision to share one pavilion.Achievements of the KRCS have set the society as a model for voluntary work in Kuwait Al-Zaid said noting that the GCC pavilion is attracting a lot of visitors.The International Conference is a unique global forum bringing together the States Parties to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement including the 189 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies their International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (International Federation) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with its specific mandate established under the Geneva Conventions.The Conference provides a non-political forum for dialogue on humanitarian issues.
