Jordan Brazil seek deeper economic ties


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Dec. 6 (Petra)-- Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Issa Murad and the Brazilian ambassador to Jordan Francisco Soares Luz on Sunday discussed ways to further expand trade ties between the two countries.

Murad emphasized that Jordan has a particular interest to forge closer economic ties with South American countries pointing out to underway negotiations to sign a free trade agreement with Mexico and another trade liberalization agreement with the Mercosur countries of Argentine Brazil Uruguay and Paraguay.

The trade balance is in Brazil's interest Murad said hoping to promote trade exchange opportunities in the future.

Jordanian exports to Brazil stood at JD5 million in 2014 while the Kingdom imported JD193 million of Brazil's fruits yoghurt and food products Murad explained.

Brazil's ambassador said his country is highly interested in developing trade and economic ties with Jordan stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the private sector of both countries.

Luz said he will update his country's private sector on investment opportunities in Jordan to carry out infrastructure ventures.

He emohasized the importance of issuing a decision through the Arab League to protect the mutual investments with his country thus promoting bilateral ties between the two countries.
