ABU DHABI 6th December 2015 (WAM) -- A UAE paper has said that sharing prosperity is on the national agenda. The leaders of the UAE have shown how it can be done. Linkages are strong. The people are charitable.

"The country has built strong bridges with the east and west and is reaching out to nations in need: those recovering from war famine and natural calamities" said Khaleej Times in an editorial on Sunday.

"The Emirates has become a friend indeed an all-weather friend to those in distress. This coming from a country that is 44 years young is commendable.

"A culture of giving has been promoted by the rulers of the nation. Wealth is nothing if not shared with the less fortunate and countries coping with civil strife who are struggling to find their feet.

"This country thrives on development and wants other nations to grow with it. It's not a selfish agenda but to take others along on the path to growth - sustainable growth that brings tangible benefits to the man woman and child on the street. 'From the UAE to the world' is not an over the top statement in this context.

"The country has become a transport trade tourism and logistics hub and uses its resources wisely. It's expanding its industrial base beyond oil and the efforts are paying off. It has created wealth and generated jobs in a climate of peace. But peace is not sustainable unless the region is safe and secure.

"Economic security is therefore vital for security. The UAE is keen to create the right economic environment around the world and has a national humanitarian agenda like no other country has. There's even a Humanitarian City in Dubai to show it means business.

"Even as war rages in Yemen the UAE is rushing to the country's aid with development projects in the health and infrastructure sectors. A stronger economically stable region is in the UAE's interests. Combined aid from the UAE has touched AED173 billion to 178 countries. A whopping figure from a nation with a big heart" concluded the Dubai-based daily.
