UAE- Arab Strategy Forum begins next week

Organisers of the Arab Strategy Forum have announced that the forum's eighth session will take place in Dubai on December 15.

The event - under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai - will bring together experts economists politicians and analysts from around the Arab World to discuss the economic and political challenges that the world will face in 2016.

"The eighth edition of the Arab Strategy forum articulates the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with regard to the global need to plan for the future and develop multiple and alternative scenarios for all short- and medium-term goals on the political and economic levels" said Mohammed Al Gergawi Chairman of the Arab Strategy Forum's organising committee.

"The rapid changes the world is witnessing require thoughtful insights to study their impact if we are to collectively resolve the various emerging regional and international challenges."

"We in the United Arab Emirates are working continuously to monitor all variables and update our plans and projects in accordance with the latest developments. The global confidence the UAE has earned enables it to serve as a platform to forecast the future and develop solutions for predictable or even unforeseen challenges" he added.

"The UAE leadership has proven the soundness of its vision regarding the causes of political conflicts and economic crises as well as the mechanisms to solve them. The Arab Strategy Forum therefore represents a platform through which the UAE reinforces its commitment to partnering with the world in the formulation of tangible and workable solutions for various challenges in order to ensure a safer world. "

Al Gergawi also noted that the seventh edition of the forum successfully predicted the impact of regional and international events which allowed decision makers to put in place policies that had a positive impact on the region's security and stability.

Among those slated to participate are Turki Al Faisal chairman of the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies former director-general of the General Intelligence Directorate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia author Ghassan Salameh former Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad former British foreign secretary William Hague and former US treasury secretary Larry Sommers.

The Arab Strategy Forum was first launched in 2001 and over the years has brought together some of the world's foremost political and thought leaders including Bill Clinton the late Lebanese PM Rafik Al Hariri former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan and Google chairman Eric Schmidt.
