Kuwait- Arab ministers of youth commend Jaber stadium


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Dec 6 (KUNA) -- The Arab ministers of youth and sports praised the facilities of Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium which meet the world's latest standards.The ministers accompanied by Kuwait's Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah paid an inspection visit to the stadium on the sidelines of the 59th meeting of the executive office of the Arab ministers of youth and sport council.Sheikh Salman said the ministers were impressed by the state-of-the-art technologies employed at this sports edifice which was named after late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah."The venue will see the Kuwait sports taking a new momentum on December 18 when a celebration will be held to give a positive portrait of sports in Kuwait" he pointed out.On the meeting of the executive office the minister said the conferees were unanimous in supporting the stance of Kuwait on the controversial decision to suspend Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) from taking part in the overseas sports activities.He stressed that the sports legislations of Kuwait are in keeping with the provisions of the International Olympic Charter.The conferees asked the international sports organizations to unban Kuwait's participation as early as possible and not to deprive the Kuwaiti sportspeople of their right to take part in sports events abroad Sheikh Salman added.Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports Maher Ben Dhia said the Jaber stadium is the most beautiful sports facility he has ever seen."The stadium is a pearl and a bright page in the history of sports in Kuwait and the Arab world at large" Ben Dhia said in statements to KUNA.The Tunisian minister voiced hope that the Stadium will host international soccer events and resume contribution to the promotion of sports in Kuwait soon.Similar statements were made by Secretary General of the UAE General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare Ibrahim Abdulmalek member of the authority Marawan Al-Marzouqi and the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth Ahmad Alhendawi.The meeting of the executive office reviewed the recommendations of the technical committees of the council of Arab ministers of youth and sports as well as sports issues of common concern for the Arab countries.bs.gb
